Sigh
A sigh of relief, that is. Last night, Margaret Willard-Traub and I gave our lecture about linking writing courses internationally. Sharing data from our linked courses last Fall felt good, a reminder that we accomplished something worth growing. Allowing students in Beirut and Dearborn to talk to one another, develop relationships, and write together was one of the most enjoyable projects I've done as a teacher. Seeing student work projected onto a big screen was enjoyable, too, a way to see points of contrast (very different ideas about literacy for example) but also to make an argument for collaboration. Insha'Allah, I think the collaboration is going to continue. Part of what we wanted to accomplish was getting our audience excited about doing more of this next semester, next year, and beyond. Speaking of audience, in addition to the usual suspects (English faculty), great to see some of my AUB students in the house.
